What is Microchanneling
Microchanneling is a skin rejuvenation treatment, offers drastic improvements to the skin. At Sugar'n Sculpt we use microchanneling technology to correct imperfections, such as dry skin, visible pores, scarring, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. These procedures stimulate collagen production and blood vessels, helping to improve firmness and texture while reducing acne scarring, pore size, and even stretch marks. Microchanneling, a form of collagen induction therapy, can dramatically improve the way the skin looks.
The Process
During microchanneling, small wire-based filaments are used with microscopic channels to exfoliate the epidermis. The micro-channels kickstart your body’s natural healing response, leaving your skin less red or inflamed. A topical serum or platelet-rich plasma is applied during the procedure to help accelerate healing and to encourage new skin to regenerate quickly.

Preparing For Your Procell Microchanneling Treatment
- If you get cold sores regularly, taking acyclovir or valcyclovir starting one day prior to your microchanneling will reduce the likelihood of a breakout due to your treatment.
- Discontinue retinol (2% or higher) or tretinoin at least 3 days prior to treatment.
- For your first treatment, you can expect mild redness and swelling, and a tight, warm sensation for between 1 & 24 hours.
- Later treatments with longer needle lengths may require topical numbing cream, and can produce redness and swelling along with tiny flecks of redness for between 4 & 72 hours.
- If your liver, kidneys and immune system are healthy, taking an NSAID such as Ibuprofen 2 hours before treatment may reduce any discomfort.
- If possible, please arrive at the office without makeup on, and with a clean, (and for men a clean shaven) face.
- If you’ve had Botox, Fillers or Threads injected you must wait at least two weeks before getting microchanneling.

If you have any underlying condition that significantly impairs your immune system, it is a good idea to avoid microchanneling. Examples include but are not limited to active radiation or chemotherapy, uncontrolled diabetes, chronic inflammatory skin disease, Accutane in the past 2 years, hemophilia or similar bleeding disorder. Also anyone with stainless steel allergies should not do this treatment. We also discourage treatments for those who are pregnant or nursing.
